For most patients, life after gallbladder surgery is improved! Over 95% of people can tolerate any food with normal bowel function. There are no long term vitamin deficiencies following this operation. The scars from surgery heal quickly, and the risk of infection is less than 1%. Most patients take less than 7 days off of work, and have no lifting restrictions after 1 week. Over half of patients take no narcotics after the first recovery day.
